A Symphony of Life 2008

A Wonderful Evening and A Fantastic Event

On April 26, 2008 Maestro Andrew Grams led The Florida Orchestra in concert at LifeLink Foundation's memorable A Symphony of Life. Patriotic anthems and beloved classical favorites underscored an evening in celebration of LifeLink's miracles and the gift of life. Nearly 6,000 attendees enjoyed this family event, which also included an opportunity to talk with LifeLink volunteers about organ and tissue donation. The entertainment culminated with an incredible display of fireworks, putting the exclamation point on a magical evening. Thank you to all who helped make A Symphony of Life a success

The LifeLink Legacy Fund®

How Your Financial Gift Supports the "Gift of Life"

Thank you to all for your support of A Symphony of Life and increasing our ability to help patients in need! Many patients cross LifeLink's threshold with great hope but limited financial means. The LifeLink Legacy Fund was established to provide financial assistance for patients who medically qualify for a transplant yet are unable to pay the costs associated with the life-saving surgery. Over the past fifteen years, LifeLink has provided more than $10,000,000 in non-funded, donated medical care to our community.

Last year, the LifeLink Legacy Fund helped when:

  • Living-related kidney donors needed short-term financial assistance for day to day expenses while out of work and recuperating without pay.
  • The need for minor medical and dental treatment threatened to prevent underinsured patients from being placed on the national waiting list for a life-saving organ transplant.
  • Thirteen critically ill kidney patients in our community were removed from the transplant list because of changes in Medicare Part D. They were placed back on the list when the LifeLink Legacy Fund guaranteed their share of expenses for the anti-rejection medications they would need to keep their new organs healthy. To date, four of these 13 have received life-saving transplants.
  • $100,000 was needed for Post Transplant Immunology Testing. This testing equips our medical professionals with tools to personalize and refine anti-rejection medications for each patient. This research also widens the field of available donors by identifying and eliminating some recipient blood properties which lead to rejection.

Thanks to your generosity, the LifeLink Legacy Fund is privileged to play a part in providing hope for patients and their families when they find themselves in need of financial resources.
